Day 10 and the final day of our virtual Cycle-athon. The day began with
the last miles being virtually cycled and we ended the morning at the
very end of Southend Pier 258 miles from the start!
Celebrations began with a bar-b-que, salads and ice cream for lunch. The
weather didn`t disappoint and it rained all morning on Paul and Andrew
who were cooking outside and only stopped when the sun came out and all
the food had been prepared!
The afternoons festivities began with us welcoming back Adrian a
skilled and well loved guitarist who played and sang songs from every era to the delight of everyone.
This was followed by Councillor Carol Bundy, Deputy Mayor of Newton
Abbot officially welcoming the Cyclists to the end of their epic virtual
cycle and congratulated them on surpassing the fundraising target of
£500 by £200. In addition as they had reached their target, Nic Parker
of Parkers Funeral Directors gave a further £500!! Our total is a
tremendous £1,200. Thank you all.
Maggie Bonnell from KingsCare was presented with a cheque and
gave special thanks to everyone who had contributed and left messages
on the Virgin giving page. Maggie commented on the tremendous spirit
the residents continue to show and talked about how the money raised
would be used to support so many.
Finally Andrew surprised everyone with a recorded message and photos he made on Saturday from Southend Pier.
